Fishing
Most folks staying at the Trout Camp or in the Craig area are there for one reason; fly-fishing for trout on the Missouri River.  Known as one of the best trout streams in the Western US, the Missouri has a strong following among technical fisherman who like to pursue large, selective trout.

While the Missouri is a long river (longest in the US), the section below Holter Dam is the one that most interests fly fisherman.  From Holter Dam downstream to the town of Cascade, the river teems with healthy populations of large, wild trout.  The Craig Trout Camp is located six miles downstream from Holter Dam, right on the best section of the river.

The river fishes well from May 1st until mid-November.  Peak times are June, July and October, though good fishing is had all year.  Know as a dry fly fishery, the Missouri has many faces, and techniques and hatches change dramatically during the season.

Although the Missouri has plenty of access and is very easy to wade, there are certain times of the year that wading is most productive.  At other times anglers may want to hire a guide or rent a drift boat .
